FAQs

Shawn & Shawn Moving

  • What does your hourly rate include, and do you have a minimum?

Our hourly rate covers basic disassembly and reassembly of common furniture items, protective moving materials, and wardrobe boxes upon request. We have a one-hour minimum for all moves. Labor time begins when our team arrives at your starting location and ends when unloading is complete at your destination. Driving time between locations is included in the labor time for local moves. Please note that there's an additional charge for specialty items requiring specific tools or manpower, such as pianos or large safes.
  • Do you move out of state?

We don't offer out-of-state moving services, but our team can assist with loading your truck or POD for long-distance moves. We primarily focus on local moves within Florida, which aligns with national moving trends. If you're planning a move within Florida, we'd be happy to help.
  • If your movers are running late, when will they be here?

As a service-oriented business, we strive to maintain our schedule but unexpected delays can occur. We ask that you allow a 30-minute window on either side of your scheduled time. We may sometimes arrive earlier than expected, so please be prepared on the day of your move. We recommend keeping your phone handy for any updates.
  • Can I leave my clothes in the dressers and drawers?

Yes, you can leave your clothes and other items in your dresser drawers during the move. This can help streamline the process and make unpacking easier at your new location.
  • Are you licensed and insured?

Shawn & Shawn Moving is fully licensed and insured in compliance with Florida state regulations chapter 507.04. Our Florida license number is IM-1528. We're proud to maintain an A+ rating with the Better Business Bureau and encourage you to check our reviews on platforms like Facebook and Yelp.
  • Do you offer packing services?

Yes, we provide packing services. However, these services require an on-site estimate to ensure we can accurately assess your needs and provide the most appropriate service.
  • Do you have the capability to store?

Indeed, we offer storage solutions. Our services include vault storage, warehousing, and the option to store items overnight on our trucks, providing flexibility for your moving needs.
  • What if something gets damaged during my move?

While we take great care with your belongings, accidents can occasionally happen. If you notice any damage, please contact our office at (727) 382-6561 immediately. We honor all claims reported within 24-48 hours of your move date. In accordance with Florida state regulations chapter 507.04, our liability for loss or damage to household goods is not less than 60 cents per pound per item.
  • How much should I tip the guys?

Tipping is not required but is appreciated for exceptional service. For smaller moves (1-2 bedrooms), a $20 tip per team member is customary. For larger moves, 15-20% of the total move cost, divided among the team, is a common practice. Remember, this is entirely at your discretion based on your satisfaction with the service provided.
  • What if it rains during my move?

We're prepared to move in light rain or mild wind, using protective measures to safeguard your belongings. If we determine that weather conditions are too severe or dangerous, we'll pause the move and resume when conditions improve. If you request to stop or reschedule due to weather, we'll accommodate your request based on our next available time slot.
